About the position
E Ink's Research and Development department is seeking a Temporary Chemical Engineer with experience in Colloidal Science, especially particle characterization, ink preparation, and particle synthesis. As a part of an efficient and reliable R&D team, this engineer will contribute to method development and particle synthesis to support new electrophoretic display (EPD) development. This is a Temporary Contract - full time 40 hrs/week for a minimum of 6 months. Direct employment will be through Eastridge Workforce Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine characterization of particles and inks with different analytical methods
- Utilize lab-scale experiments and advanced analytical techniques to understand and help build structure-property relations for the ink
- Generate standard operating procedures (SOP) for new analytical test methods, new instruments and equipment
- Carry out simple particle surface treatment reaction under the guidance of a senior Engineer/Scientist
- Participate in cross functional teams in technology and product development
- Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and contribute to a cohesive team working culture
Qualifications
- BS/MS in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field; advanced degrees preferred
- Experience with colloidal science, especially particle size characterization, surface charge characterization, dispersion preparation
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in working with other researchers on research projects; sharing data and problem solving collaboratively on a team
- Practical working knowledge of standard office software including MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Hands-on experience in particle synthesis is a plus, but not a requirement
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments and Statistical Analysis
The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $35-$40 for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
