Automation Tester (Contract/Permanent)

Job Type: 6-Month Fixed Term Contract (with the likelihood to extend beyond)

Job Location: Leeds

Workplace Type: Hybrid (3 days in office)

Overview:

We are seeking an Automation Test Engineer to spearhead the development and implementation of an automation framework from the ground up, covering both Front End and Back End systems. This pivotal role involves conducting automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of software produced by our development team. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers and project teams, in an agile environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and create a robust automation test framework tailored to the systems and applications under consideration.
  • Develop and execute automated test cases in alignment with specified requirements, focusing on risk mitigation.
  • Compile comprehensive bug reports and provide constructive feedback to software development teams.
  • Adhere to project deadlines and departmental standards.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, conveying findings and insights clearly.
  • Foster strong relationships with third-party suppliers, particularly in cases where testing spans multiple parties.
  • Conduct API and database testing, utilizing expertise in SQL and other data technologies.
  • Design and build automated tests, integrating them seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performance testing, with experience in Azure DevOps considered advantageous.
  • Possess ISTQB tester accreditation.
  • Adapt to both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Exhibit strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Show initiative and autonomy in work tasks, functioning effectively as a self-starter.

Key Requirements:

  • Proficient in analysing, defining, and building automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Capable of maintaining and executing automation suites once established.
  • Skilled in Python coding.
  • Experienced in Selenium WebDriver.
  • Familiarity with BDD technologies such as Behave or Cucumber.
  • Experience with Azure Load Test is desirable
